Weddings in Mauritius are extremely well catered for, and unequivocably, some hotels have the upper hand: location, venue, facilities, accommodation - all play a big part on your big day. From designer chic luxury to all inclusive, each hotel has managed to create an individual identity that will appeal to a specific couple.

All inclusive weddings abroad are increasingly more popular with side-stepping the stress of organising a big or even a small wedding in the UK and far less complicated than the full-blown big white dress, walk down the aisle affair.

Your Mauritian wedding certificate is valid under British law, with an apostille stamp, and therefore you do not need to register your marriage on your return to the UK.

Getting Married in Mauritius

Most resorts offer both a standard and luxury wedding package - other arrangements are tailor-made.

Wedding Planning

Couples need to be on the island 3 working days prior to the wedding ceremony and all hotels require a minimum stay of 7 nights.

Weddings in Mauritius take place Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. We will confirm the date as soon as your accommodation is booked, subject to availability.

Avoid tight fitting wedding outfits and man-made fibres. Ensure your outfits are professionally packed or packed in hard suitcases. These make up part of your baggage allowance, and some airlines may levy an excess baggage charge.

All arrangements will be finalised at the hotel: your co-ordinator will help you choose a location and organise any services such as make-up, hairdressing, manicure, flowers, gazebo decoration, photography (video), food and beverage requirements... all the finer points.
Most of these services can be pre-paid in the UK, but some must be settled locally.
We will provide some costings, according to your requirements.

The morning before the Big Day, a private trip to Port Louis will be arranged to 4 different offices, including the Supreme High Court where you will Swear Affidavits (smart, casual attire is required - no shorts for men, and arms covered for ladies; children are not allowed inside) and the Civil Status Sub Office, to discuss the wedding vows, and time, with the Civil Status Officer.

Late afternoon (four o'clock is the registrar's fav time) is the best time for weddings with cooler temperatures and a better light for photography and... a sunset backdrop (west is best!) as the sun in the southern hemisphere goes down earlier than in the UK.

Your co-ordinator will ensure that everything goes to plan, and even act as a witness. This is a civil ceremony, conducted in English. Stress free.

Afterwards... a reception with family and friends, a BBQ party with live music and Sega dancers on the beach, a romantic dinner under the stars... in tropical paradise.
You can relax now, you are on Honeymoon.
