Thinking about getting married in Mauritius, wedding planning? Please contact us for a personal quote to suit your wedding or honeymoon plans, with our personal knowledge of the hotels & facilities.
The warm scenery and stunning natural attractions provide a fabulous backdrop for a quiet romantic holiday or any special occasion.
Mauritius has long been established as a wedding and honeymoon destination and is among the top three for weddings abroad. Although honeymooning there might be costlier than other destinations, wedding and honeymoon special offers help make it more affordable.
Weddings in Mauritius are well catered for, and unequivocably, some hotels have the upper hand: location, venue, facilities, accommodation - all play a big part on your big day. From designer chic luxury to all inclusive, each one has managed to create an individual identity that will appeal to a specific couple.
Getting Married in Mauritius
While some couples may choose to tie the knot underwater, the majority opt for a ceremony at their hotel with weddings taking place on the beach, at a decorated location in the hotel's grounds or private Villa. Most resorts offer both a standard and luxury wedding package - other arrangements are tailor-made.
Unlike other hotels, Beachcomber guarantees only one wedding per day, plus generous discounts for your friends and family as wedding party guests staying at any of their 8 hotels in Mauritius at the time.
Legal Requirements for Weddings in Mauritius
Getting married in Mauritius is relatively simple.
Both bride and groom have to be over 18.
Two copies of the following documents must be sent 8 weeks ahead of the wedding date to the Tour Operator:- Completed application form for non-residents to marry
- 10-year valid Passports - Birth certificates
- Decree absolute (if divorced)
- Deed poll (if your name has changed)
- 2 Passport-size photographs each
- Death certificate & previous marriage certificate if widowedDocumentation not in English must be translated into English and duly stamped. Documents arriving less than 8 weeks before the wedding may incur charges. You must take with you the originals of all the above documents as your wedding may have to be cancelled if all documents are not presented.
And a little Mauritian red tape before the confetti... if the bride-to-be has been divorced in the last 10 months, she will need a Mauritian doctor's certificate of non-pregnancy.
Wedding Planning
Your wedding date will be confirmed once you have made your hotel reservation. You can get married any day of the week, excluding public holidays & weekends.
Couples need to be on the island 3 working days prior to the wedding ceremony and most hotels require a minimum stay of 7 nights.
Before the big day, a visit to Port Louis will be arranged to sign affidavits.Late afternoon is the best time to get married when temperatures are cooler and the light is better for photography. Consider the tropical climate when choosing your wedding outfits. Tight fitting dresses, suits and man-made fibres will be especially uncomfortable. Whatever you decide to wear, ensure your outfits are professionally packed or packed in hard suitcases.
Please also be aware that these make up part of your baggage allowance and that some airlines may levy an excess baggage charge. All wedding arrangements will be finalised at the hotel. Your personal co-ordinator will help you choose a suitable location and organise any extra services - including make-up, hairdressing, flowers, photography and catering. Many of these services can be pre-paid before you leave the UK, but some must be paid for locally.
Some couples may opt for a beach BBQ party with musicians and Sega dancers, an intimate romantic dinner for 2 under the stars or a reception with their guests.
We will provide you with various costings, according to your plans.
Your hotel wedding co-ordinator will be there on the day to ensure that everything goes to plan, and also act as a witness, if required. And Finally
