Weather & Public Utilities
Public utilities such as water and electricity are taken for granted in Britain, but on tropical islands and in less developed countries there may be hiccups in the supply. The Seychelles are located north of the cyclone belt in the Indian Ocean and as such rarely experience such weather patterns.
In general the weather in the Seychelles is warm
and humid, averaging 29°C throughout the year with more rain around November to end of January.
The Seychelles experience two trade winds The South East Trade Winds are prevalent from May to September when it will be drier, breezier, and slightly cooler than during the remainder of the year. So any beaches located in
the north west of any island tend to have calm waters and vice versa for the north west trade winds.
This also means that between May and August currents are stronger, often bringing sea grass onto some of the beaches. The sea is at its choppiest and more agitated in July and August. |
