WATER SPORTS
Shandrani is set in a protected marine park, so water sports are outstanding.

Snorkelling is at its most rewarding in the abundant waters of Blue Bay Marine Park in front of the Shandrani. Those who enjoy water sports can opt for complimentary water-skiing, sailing (Optimists, Lasers, Hobiecats), windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking (singles, doubles and seascope), pedalos and glass bottom boat trips.

Shandrani Kitesurf School
Shandrani is already popular for its nature-oriented holidays with its ecological program Beachcomber Sport & Nature in collaboration with the Mauritius Wildlife Foundation and its certified Sailing School. Now, in line with its forward thinking, Shandrani has decided to launch an official Kitesurfing School.


Having hosted 4 editions of The International Kitesurfing Event of Mauritius – an event which has enjoyed wide international coverage and attracted international Kitesurf champions from the North Kiteboarding Team over the last 4 years - an IKO-certified Kitesurf School seems the logical next step for this action-filled 5 star resort.

Shandrani Sailing Club - A première in Mauritius!
Sailing courses are run to suit everyone, from novice to the more experienced - it's an exciting and rewarding skill to learn together for children, families or as a couple.
The Shandrani Sailing Club is affiliated to the International Sailing Association (ISA) and is a member of the Mauritius Sailing Club.
The Shandrani Sailing Club offers tuition, refresher courses and fun for experienced sailors.
 
The sailing courses are subject to a fee for both children and adults.
Participants will receive an internationally recognised sailing license.

Scuba Diving
Shandrani’s new Diving Centre (with a decompression chamber), affiliated to PADI-National Geographic, focuses on environmental awareness, personalised service and quality.
Three dives at sea are organised per day (except Sundays) and Shandrani’s superb Marine Park is a real plus. Divers may also go through different learning levels from initiation to the Dive Master.
All equipment is available to hire, costs per dive vary according to the number of dives taken. PADI lessons and courses - including the Bubblemaker - (introduction to scuba diving programme fro children aged 10-12 years) are available at an extra cost.
A variety of spectacular dives are close by including reef, cave, cliff and the shipwrecks that lie close to the Shandrani are a reminder of bygone naval battles.
If you are an avid snorkelling fan, please bring your own equipment.

Undersea Walk
A short distance from the resort you could spend 20 minutes strolling through the underwater gardens of the ocean. Wearing a special helmet to provide air, you can discover the local marine life. This excursion is ideal for families with older children.
You can even have a picture so that you have a souvenir of your amazing adventure.
It is not part of the hotel's own activity programme and does incur a local charge.

The Beachcomber Sports and Nature excursion is not to be missed. For an additional cost, you can discover the island's luxuriant green forests, colourful bird life, mountains and spectacular waterfalls, and experience mountain biking, canoeing, abseiling and nature walking. LAND SPORTS

Tennis
6 floodlit tennis courts (4 hard courts and 2 artificial grass), free group and children's lessons. Private lessons are available on request at an extra cost.
Racquets are available, balls must be purchased.

Mountain Bikes at an extra cost, guided tours are available.
For those who wish to explore further afield, it's easy to take a cycling trip to the market at the nearby village of Mahébourg. 

Golf Holidays
A complimentary 9 hole, par 30 Pitch and Putt Golf Course provides beginners and enthusiasts with a fun challenge amidst unrivalled scenery running alongside the gardens and beaches. There are free group and children's lessons with Pro.
 
Right and left handed clubs, ladies, men's and children's clubs for hire, Golf trolleys are available too. It is advisable to take balls as they can be rather expensive.

TEENAGER'S CLUB

BOB MARLIN MINICLUB - Smiles for the family
The Shandrani welcomes children with genuine warmth, and an entire programme of events is designed around creating happy holiday memories.
The inclusive Bob Marlin Mini Club, staffed by qualified child-minders, offers those aged 3-12 years free membership, with a Club rucksack, T-shirt and more.
Fun activities range from sports, competitions, dancing and lively entertainment, to nature discovery and creativity; children can join in as much as they wish.
Free coaching for water-skiing and windsurfing is available, as are PADI approved scuba diving lessons for over 10s. The sailing club is family-orientated, with experienced tutors making it great fun to learn together.
Dining facilities are child friendly, and families will certainly appreciate the unlimited ice creams, soft drinks and snacks from the bars.
Open every day and evening from 0900-1630 and 1800-2300.
Babysitters for extra childcare, or children under 3, can also be booked 24 hrs in advance. Payment is required for babysitters at the resort (approx. £2 per hour), and depending on the time they leave, payment for their transport home may also be required.
The Miniclub is a spacious house with a terrace situated in the gardens with an outdoor play area, plenty of indoor activities, library, TV Video and CD.
